Equipment
-
Pastry bag fitted with a #804 or #2A (1cm) round tip
-
Twelve 6-inch (15cm) cake pop sticks
Ingredients
-
11/2cups (375mL) butter icing
-
12 cupcakes in liners
-
1 cup (250 mL) milk chocolate candy melts
-
6 mini chocolate bars
-
10 packages of lightweight candy pieces (M&Ms, Skittles, etc...)
Method
Carefully cut off the end of each chocolate bar package to expose the end of the bar. Cut a corner off each candy package, ensuring the logo will be pouring downwards.
For The Chocolate Bars
-
Dip the top half of a cake pop stick in the melted chocolate and slid up through the base of the bar to the middle. Let dry for 1 minute.
-
Carefully slide the other end of the cake pop stick diagonally into a cupcake, making sure not to press too hard and pierce the bottom.
-
Spoon melted chocolate around the stick on the cupcake to cover any visible stick and make it appear like the chocolate bar is melting.
For the Candy Packages
-
Empty all of the candy pieces into piled, dividing them by variety, and set aside.
-
Dip the top of each cake pop stick in melted chocolate. Gently slide a package down each stick and hold it in place for about 1 minute, until the candy hardens and secures it.
-
Carefully slide the other end of each cake pop stick diagonally into a cupcake, making sure not to press too hard and pierce the bottom.
-
Using the melted candy as glue, attach candy pieces to each stick, working from the bottom up and matching the candy to the package.
-
Use the remaining candy pieces to decorate the top of each cupcake and hide any visible stick.
